Add main Categories similar to the Home Default category

Hello, i am wondering how i might create a main category that functions the same way as the "Home" Default category.

for example i want a main category called Hoses which has sub categories for the different types of hoses. right now i can only add categories as sub categories to the home category

If you want to show a specific category by default, you can configure one with
