I would like to know how should I manage products visibility. Should I use status field?

For example:
I have bundled products and I don't want to sell children products individually. How can I hide them?

I know that products with status other than Enabled are not being showed on the front. Should I use one of the existing statuses? Should I create a new one for this purpose? Is there a better way to manage product visibility?

If you don't add a product to a category, customers won't be able to buy it separately.
