I just installed a new instance of flow and aimeos and didn't change anything in the htaccess file. What could be the problem in it?

In which environment do you want to install Aimeos? Linux/Windows, Apache/etc.?

Should be fine. Maybe a Apache configuration or .htaccess directive interferes?
