Is there a version of the aimeos_pay TYPO3 extension that is compatible with aimeos 20.x?

No, the aimeos_pay extension is discontinued because it needs a couple of libraries also included in the TYPO3 vendor directory but it's almost impossible to always ship the same libraries in the extension.

Recommended way is to use composer to install TYPO3 and the payment driver you need. Then, you won't have any problems.
