There is nothing in the protocol. See scheduler setting enclosed.
I just don't understand why it appears in the delivery section of the checkout process (see attachment). This is nothing that should appear in the frontend.

There's still a misunderstanding on your side how this works.
You should not create a new shipping option for the Email delivery service provider but use the provider for your existing shipping options instead.

The image in the blog article might be a bit misleading because it made you think that the Email delivery service provider should be an own entry in the list of providers but that's not the case.
