Extbase Model Data for Products

Post by chris_riegler » 14 Feb 2024, 15:04

For a customer we have the requirement to use existing domain models (Extbase) for the product data (title, description, images). The customer wants to create the models via the TYPO3 backend, fill them with content and these should then provide the basis for a product that can be sold.

Has anyone already solved a similar task with Aimeos?

Would it make sense to extend the existing model with the Aimeos fields for price, tax, etc. or to create a product in Aimeos which is then linked to the model?
Would it be possible to solve this using a separate product type that uses a different table (that of the extbase model)?

Thanks for your tips!

Extbase models and the Aimeos data structures doesn't fit together if you want to have a model with all product data.

Hi again,

Thanks for your insights. Before moving on, I want to be sure that integrating Extbase models directly with Aimeos is off the table. Are my initial ideas – like extending the model with Aimeos fields or linking an Aimeos product to an Extbase model – definitely not implementable?

Are there any best practices handling something like this?

The data structures will be too different and you won't be able to get them together.
