hi,
I would like to re-configure my shop to allow logins with a unique customerID intead of the eMail address
Could you please point me to the documentation where to do that thanks.

Don't think that's easily possible. We use the Laravel infrastructure for user and login handling so you have to ask in Laravel forums if that's possible. The Laravel documentation won't tell you anything about that.
