Overwrite templates | LGPLv3 license.

Post by peter69 » 14 Jun 2022, 19:05

Hello everyone!

In advance, thank you very much for the amazing package you have created. It is really a great help for developers.

Maybe this is an ignorant question. But I was wondering if overwriting admin and client templates (by creating an theme extension or by copying files to /resources/views/vendor/shop), are considered changes to the package?. I had the doubt because aimeos is under LGPLv3 license.

I hope I explained myself well,

Best regards!

You don't change the Aimeos core packages if you overwrite templates by copying them to your own extension. LGPLv3 allows to you modify the templates and you can even sell them but the source code must be available for the payee.

Ohh ok. thank you very much for the clarification.

Just to be clear, should I deliver the source code to the client I am developing the ecommerce for?

thanks,

Yes, that's required and using PHP it's standard to do so.
