About
The Swiss Alpine Club SAC is one of the largest sports associations in Switzerland and has around 150,000 members. Founded in 1863, the club has a long tradition of promoting the development of the Alpine region and mountain sports. This includes, among other things, operating over 150 mountain huts, offering courses in mountain sports and organising competitions in sports climbing and ski touring races. In addition, the club publishes travel guides on hiking, climbing and skiing regularly.
The web application
We have developed an extensive shop system with automatic subscription processing for the Swiss Alpine Club SAC. The application aims primarily at SAC members and those interested in mountaineering. It offers member subscriptions including automatic payment renewal.
The shop is highly integrated into the TYPO3 content management system. Several features on the web site combine data from the shop system and content from the CMS in one page such as the hut guide.
Results
The new web site replaced the separate Magento shop system and integrates content and products seemlessly. After the relauch and a mailing to our existing customers, we saw an increase of 80% in sales compared to the old Magento system. Especially selling subscriptions for club memberships is very successful due to the tight integration of content and commerce.
